#SelfCareSunday hacks for the weekend so you can recharge for the week ahead. But why save self-care only for Sunday? Dr. Meredith Watson-Locklear, an OB-GYN physician in Orlando Health Women’s Pavilion in Winter Park, the new healthcare experience designed exclusively for women, thinks nurturing body and soul should be a daily deal.

“My number one rule is ‘Make time for yourself,’” she says. “Everyone can find at least 15 minutes every day to devote to self-care.” Hitting the pause button on your day doesn’t have to be complicated.

Here are some gradual steps to introduce self-care into your daily routine:

  1. Take a mental health break: Giving yourself permission to shake off stress is healthy, not indulgent. Listen to a podcast. Meditate. Call a friend. Take a power nap.

  2. Exercise: Commit to 30 minutes 3- to 4-days a week and build up from there.

  3. Good nutrition: Make one better choice each day or aim for one big change a week. Grab a piece of fruit instead of the extra cookie or swap soda for sparkling water for a week.

  4. Drink more water: Keep a water bottle with you throughout the day.

  5. Routine Maintenance: Schedule your wellness exams, bloodwork, annual physical and preventative screenings.

  6. Listen to your body!

  7. Commit to more sleep: Increase your sleep by 10 minutes a night until you reach 7-9 hours nightly.

  8. Take your vitamins.

  9. Enjoy the little things: Use the good china, the expensive perfume, the beautiful lingerie, even if you sleep alone.

  10. Download self-care apps: Apps can help calm you down, modify behavior, break old patterns and form healthy new habits.
