Bank of America Named Grace Medical Home a 2022 Neighborhood Builder®

Bank of America named Grace Medical Home a 2022 Bank of America Neighborhood Builder®. With multi-year grant funding, Grace’s programs and services to address local access to healthcare will continue to expand, helping more neighbors in need.

Grace will receive a $200,000 grant over two years to expand programming, introduce a mobile medical unit, increase access to mental health counseling, and offer healthy food through an on-site food pantry. Additionally, Stephanie Garris, CEO, and Dr. John Sanderson, Associate Medical Director, will join a network of peer organizations across the U.S. for comprehensive leadership training on topics ranging from increasing financial sustainability, human capital management and strategic storytelling to expand Grace’s impact. The program continues to be the nation’s largest investment into nonprofit leadership development.

“Nonprofits are the backbone to our local community as they are on the ground working closely with individuals, families and community members to understand the obstacles many are experiencing and developing programs and services that will help alleviate or eliminate these barriers, helping them chart a path toward economic opportunity,” said Steven Alch, president, Bank of America Central Florida. “It’s important that we direct not only capital, but the necessary resources and training to help position these nonprofits and their leadership team for long-term success as they grow strategically and make a positive impact.”

“The impact this grant will have on Grace Medical Home is truly immeasurable,” said Stephanie.   “This grant will help thousands of the uninsured in our community for generations to come. With the support of Bank of America, we can lay the groundwork to ensure the next generation of leadership is ready to take over the organization, help it grow by serving more patients, and develop ongoing partnerships to sustain our work. It means that there will always be a safety net to catch those who fall through the cracks of the health care system.”

Thirty-one Orlando nonprofits have been selected as Neighborhood Builders since 2004, with the bank investing $6.2 million into these local organizations. The invitation-only program is highly competitive, and organizations are selected by a committee comprised of community leaders and past Neighborhood Builders honorees.
