A Piece of Heaven

Georgette and Dr. Kirsten Carter

“They helped me so much when I needed it most.” Georgette Pinango held back tears when explaining how ill she was when she first became a Grace Medical Home patient several years ago. “I was really ill. I needed a lot of imaging, sonograms, my kidneys were failing. And I did not have insurance. Just one of the tests was a couple thousand dollars. I don’t know what I would have done without Grace,” she said.

An immigrant from Venezuela, Georgette refers to Grace as a “piece of Heaven.” Grace helped her receive all the diagnostics and medicine she needed to manage Lupus, the autoimmune disease that was making her so ill.

Now a real estate agent in Kissimmee, Georgette graduated from Grace and has health insurance. She fulfilled a promise she had made to herself by making a donation to Grace from the first commission she earned in real estate.

“It felt so good to give back to the place that means so much to me. I am married and have two children, but I feel like my ‘family’ includes everyone at Grace. There are no words to express the gratitude I feel. Everyone was so supportive – emotionally, spiritually and physically,” Georgette said.

“There is nothing else like Grace Medical in Orlando. I feel sorry for the people who can’t qualify because of the support and compassion you receive there! I cried when I graduated and said goodbye to all the angels at Grace.”
