A Young Advocate's Gift

Ellie Broughton is no stranger to Grace Medical Home. In fact, her recent decision to donate to Grace after winning a school competition is rooted in a deep and personal connection that began years ago.

Ellie has always known about Grace Medical Home. Her mom, Scarlett Stewart Broughton, was the first Director of Development. From a young age, Ellie was surrounded by the mission and message of Grace, a place where compassionate care and the love of Christ come together to serve those in need. Her connection to Grace goes back to fourth grade, when she organized a popsicle stand and donated the proceeds to Grace. That same year, she also led the morning devotion at the clinic, demonstrating her heart for service even then.

So, when she chose Grace as the subject of her school presentation, it was a natural fit. After winning the competition, she was awarded $200 to donate to a nonprofit of her choice, and for Ellie, the decision had already been made.

“I’ve always known Grace does amazing work,” Ellie shared. “They help people who are less fortunate, and they spread a good message through the gospel. That’s something I’ve grown up believing in.”

Her presentation highlighted not just the services Grace offers, but also the heart behind it. She passionately spoke about the impact Grace has in the community, and why more people should know about the work being done every day. Ellie hopes her donation, while small in dollars, will inspire others to learn more about Grace and consider supporting the mission themselves.

“Ellie has a heart for service and a deep understanding of what we do here,” said Lynn Ivanek, Grace’s director of philanthropy. “Her gift and her voice are reminders that advocacy can come from anyone, no matter their age.”

As Ellie puts it, “I know my donation will go to a good cause. I just want Grace to keep spreading good care through the gospel.
