Finding His Calling

When Nathan Webb first heard about the Orlando Heart of the City Fellows Program, he didn’t think it was for him. A recent graduate from UNC Chapel Hill with a passion for public health, Nathan was looking for more than just a job—he was searching for purpose.

"I didn’t think there was an intersection between my faith and my education,” Nathan shared. “I thought I had to choose one or the other.”

But life has a way of leading us exactly where we’re meant to be. When Nathan’s sister introduced him to Grace Medical Home, something clicked. It wasn’t just an opportunity—it felt like a calling.

“Grace found me,” Nathan said. “It was the exact mission I had been longing for.”

At Grace, Nathan discovered more than just meaningful work—he found a community and a way to live out his deepest values. Surrounded by humble, servant-hearted providers, Nathan learned that how you serve matters just as much as who you serve.

“I’ve seen firsthand that Grace doesn’t just give care—they give above-rate care,” he said. “They give patients the kind of attention and dignity that everyone wishes they could receive from their doctor. Grace shows up for people who are hurting and gives them the very best.”

One of Nathan’s most impactful experiences came while working in the medication storage room—a quiet but powerful place where patients’ lives are changed.

“I want every person who supports Grace to know this: your generosity makes it possible for our patients to receive their medications—at no cost to them. So many people who are uninsured never get their prescriptions filled because they can’t afford them. But because of you, that’s not the case here. You’re fixing that.”

Throughout his year at Grace, Nathan built lasting friendships, found mentors who modeled humility and excellence, and deepened his resolve to serve the marginalized with his whole heart.

Now, he’s heading to Emory University School of Medicine to pursue his MD and a Master of Public Health. Wherever his journey takes him next, Nathan carries Grace with him.

“I will never forget what I learned here. Wherever I go, I will always give above-rate care.”
