For a long time, Mabel faced her health battles alone. Struggling with kidney problems, high blood pressure, and diabetes, she lived each day with uncertainty. Without regular care, her condition worsened. She eventually lost vision in her left eye and found herself relying on emergency room visits at HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital just to get by.
A friend, already a patient at Grace Medical Home, urged her to seek help, sharing that Grace is a place where people with limited resources are treated with dignity and compassion. Desperate for a path forward, Mabel listened.
Her journey to healing began in Eatonville. Thanks to Grace’s Mobile Medical Unit and new on-site registration appointments, Mabel was able to connect with a care team without delay. That day changed everything.
"Grace gave me hope," Mabel said. "You told me you would do all you could to help me, and I believed you. From the moment I received my medications, I felt like I was being revived. It was as if I had woken up again."
What stood out most to Mabel wasn’t just the treatment—it was the unity she felt at Grace. "Everyone works together like parts of the same body," she shared. "There is peace and harmony there. No one is above or below anyone else. They all work as one, and that gives patients like me peace and hope."
Inspired by her experience, Mabel now encourages others to come to Grace, especially those in the immigrant community who might be afraid to seek help. "Grace is made by the community, not the government. You make us feel safe. You care about our well-being."
To those who give generously to make this care possible, Mabel’s gratitude overflows. "May God bless you and multiply all that you give. Every bit you contribute is an instrument God uses to help those of us in great need."
Mabel believes her story is part of something bigger—a message of healing and hope. "I had just finished praying when you called me," she said. "I believe it was God who used me to speak. He is the one moving hearts to help the neediest."
