When the Hodgson Lau family first came to Grace Medical Home in February 2023, they were searching for a place where every member of the family could find care and encouragement. What they discovered was more than a clinic—they found a community committed to their health and well-being.
Mom and her three children received care at Grace, from medical visits to support for nutrition and emotional wellness. Mom led the way, making sure her family embraced every opportunity. Together, they explored creative outlets like art, ballet, and drumming, and even practiced martial arts as a family, learning discipline and joy in the process.
Astrid, the youngest daughter, especially blossomed. With the support of Grace’s nutrition team, she began to understand how small choices—fresh produce, balanced portions, and mindful eating—could shape her energy, mood, and future health. A defining moment came when Astrid celebrated her birthday at Grace with a fruit tart and macarons. As she held the treat, she paused and asked, “Should I be eating this?” In that instant, her self-awareness and ability to reflect on healthy choices shone brightly.
“It’s been inspiring to see the progress this family has made,” shared Ann-Marie Cools, Grace’s Community Nutritionist. “Every meal is an opportunity to nourish their bodies and reinforce the commitment they’ve made to each other’s health.”

Now, as the Hodson Lau family transitions to private insurance, we celebrate their graduation from Grace. We wish them well as they continue to move forward with new tools, confidence, and hope. Their story reminds us that lasting change doesn’t come from one big leap—it comes from everyday choices, encouragement, and the love of a family determined to grow stronger together.
